Hi.

Welcome to Wildly Hopeful! My name is Kimberly, and I write about my journey from grief to joy as I move forward from losing my husband and finding new love in a crazy short amount of time.

A Single Step

A Single Step

I'll say that I can’t believe I haven’t posted a blog in over year, but I’m not really surprised. I do this all the time. I have half a dozen started blogs that I haven’t published for one reason or another. Some were deeply personal. Others just didn’t feel right. I started a website to write about my grief after being widowed, but at the time I was feeling everything too deeply to write about it. Now with some distance, it’s easier to reflect, but I’m also worry about being so stuck in the past that I can’t enjoy the present. I set out a goal to write and blog more, so maybe this is just me putting it off.

Sometimes when there’s a lot to do, I have trouble starting. Like when a task seems so big a daunting, I’d rather wait till I feel like I have enough time. Then I think of this Chines proverb: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So, I guess this my single step toward returning to writing. I have some half-written blogs to finish that I will hopefully post.

In the meantime, I leave you with a few updates of what’s been going for the past year:

  • We bought a house.

  • I started working from home in March.

  • We started tending to bees.

  • We had a drive through wedding at the law office where we closed our house.

  • We had a wedding ceremony at our house.

  • We started a bee business (a beesness if you will).

  • Celebrated Christmas and New Year’s with our Michigan family in Georgia.

  • To celebrate Mike’s 42nd birthday last month, I donated to the Arbor Day Foundation in his memory to help with reforestation efforts. https://www.arborday.org/programs/replanting/. We spent many days hiking in the Georgia mountains when we lived in Atlanta.

Well, this is a small step, but it’s a start.
